Moments of respect März 27, 2008

Like the real world Second Life has many different kinds of people. Although every person is unique there are certain categories. SL for example has consumers and producers. Consumers use SL, producers build it, both enjoying it. Sevenstar and I definetely belong to the last category. We love to design and create stuff and work together and with other builders too. Constantly counting prims, wondering how things are built and peeking who made it.

From time to time you find stuff that’s really astonishing. We ourselves are not bloody beginners at all. But some builders deserve and get our deepest respect. I dare not to write down names here and now, because I would certainly forget some who surely earns it…

About a week ago Sevenstar sighted a wonderfull house tree. We found out it was built by Frits Asbrink.

We got in touch with him and he spontaneously offered us to build one for us at Lumandia. It was even greater than the one we first saw. Well see for yourself. Frits your one of our heroes!

Is fun to get in touch with those heroes of SL construction and find out what inspires them… and how in hell they built that thing! It is even more satisfying when you find out that you can join your skills and specialties and learn from eachother, find new places and share eachothers networks to meet even more builders. Basicly that is what Sevenstar and I do as a team and that is how we like to work with other builders and designers.

There is no such satisfaction than to create…. even if its virtual.

Becoming a model in SL März 17, 2008

One of the most amazing things in SL is the fashion world. Of cause I adore the many builder Artists, who managed to build up special scenaries and worlds with an unique atmoshere. Only to name Poppet Mac Gimsie, the creator of the Wunderbar Islands, where we live, or my other favourite places like „Tableau“ and „Lions Shore“.

Yet, the creative input in fashion is uncredible. I wish I really could visit all the marvelous shops, made by talented designers and have all those clothes in RL, my Avatar can buy for little amounts, to change my apperence and my styles in an instance.

I started with an Avatar that was much like my lookalike in RL. As time went by I became more and more interessted in that expanding and sparkling  fashion world, so I decided to become a model. This is however a long way, and so I joined a modeling school with a real education about perfect apperence and a lots of other stuff that belongs to the glamourous modeling world. My teachers were very usefull in this transormation process. This prosecces however is still not finished, though graduation is not very far now…hopefully

Lumandia is gone, but it will come back März 17, 2008

this is what we found this morning, the big NOTHING, that was Lumandia yesterday and is now plain water. Once again within 3 Month we have to „play god“ and pull land out of the water. Terraforming is really something special

Lumandia Island down for maintenance März 17, 2008

Just when we were finished with the creation of Lumandia Island we were offered a land conversion. This alteration gave us the unique opportunity to extend the usable space for us and our customers by four times. Unfortunately this meant we had to repack the complete  Island and it’s buildings and infrastructure back into our inventory, because the conversion would wipe out anything on our land. Just to put it all back after they finished the conversion….

Yesterday we spent all night packing, naming and saving all the stuff on our land… This morning we found that Lumandia was competely wiped away and there was nothing left but blue sea and air. And now Lumandia looks like this:

Tonight we will start to unpack and decorate the new Lumanda again. We apologize our customers for the inconvenience but we are sure the new Lumandia will be even more magic than the one we created before…..

So for the time being.. we have to sleep in our tent:

Top of the bill: our Sewingwonder März 16, 2008

We just love to build state of the art products. Especially when we can combine our interests and talents (designing, texturing, building and scripting). It’s so satisfactorily to see how the public loves the products we created. However, we gave up the idea that we can achieve a real product planning. Our products are the result of mind bubbles, spontaneously turned into working products. But than we are at our best. The finest example is our Sewingwonder. Development time from first idea to market release was just over 2 days. And amazingly enough it got to be our bestselling product. Still!!

The Sewingwonder was very much embrassed by our customers and soon they asked us to develop special versions. This resulted in a vintage version and even a special camping version. The last one was ordered by a famous SL fashion designer who wanted the Sewingwonder as an attraction for people that would like to camp for designer clothings.

Opening of the next Wunderbar Ballroom März 15, 2008

Yesterday Sevenstar and I were present at the opening of the new Wunderbar Ballroom. Poppet McGimsie and Ha Tenk moved it back to Oneiros. The new ballroom is meant to be the next superlative of all the old one(s). Just need to say it was copied from Castle Neuschwanstein that was originally built in Bavaria/Germany by the crazy King Ludwig. Need I say more…. ? Nevertheless we are sure someday Poppet will come up with a newer version that has even more „grandeur“.

The openings party was just like all nights in Wunderbar.. People dancing line and couples dancing ballroom… Remarkable how much tradition and sustain can be found in SL. Even our disruption by bringing in our friends of Sansibar, Bimbo Imako and Blackfeather Amat, could not break the patterns of this evening. If we had not so much fun in using our alter ego’s trying to spice up the party, it would have been rather dull.

Speaking of traditions.. at the end there was a firework. Which I have to admit was truly beautiful. A sparkle of joy after a colourless (well execpt for Bimbo and BF) evening…

Both tired but still too much awake to go to sleep, Sevenstar and I decided to horseback ride along Oneiros, Tresco and back to our home at Lumandia Island. We realized how wonderful this unique spot is and how lucky we are to live there. Finally, we fell asleep by the forest sounds that reached us through our open balcony doors.

 

Sevenstar´s Gypsy Rose Vintage top spot März 14, 2008

Life is changing, and SL is even more challenging. Especially, when your landlady is Poppet Mac Gimsie. She owns 10 sims now, and some of our shops are located on these beautifull spots- Our „Gypsy Rose“ in Oneiros was kind of „off the track“ some days ago…but now, allmost overnight, its a top-location on a giant castle plaza.

Poppet´s  restless building and rebuilding (you never know what your sight will be tomorrow) led to a new highlight: The Neuschwanstein Schloss of famous and legendary (and insane) Bavarian king Ludwig II. Thid guy spent all the money of his country for his extravagagant hobby: collecting castles. That´s why he maybe had to die young under never really examined circumstances. Never mind, Poppet put his biggest castle in front of our noses plus his giant overwhelming fountain from an other of Ludwigs castles, the one from „Herrenchimsee“, a replique of Verseilles near Paris. Gigantomania has many faces, and this, no dout is glamourous.

So, I hurried up to make the little hidden shop more stylish, and now I even feel urged to design Ballroom gown. Oh my god! I never thought I would do that….I guess I never will. The opening of the Schloss Neuschwanstein Ballroom will be tonight, in presence of the king himself.

la vie en rose März 13, 2008

this shop „la vie en rose“, I built on Oneiros, has been trough many changes. Currantly I´m not doing a lot there, because I´m busy on Lumandia. Its is an accesoirs shop and mainly we offer animated fans there (thanks to Amons scripting abilities), and my marvelous hats and caps, I´m really enjoying to make. These things make a woman really feminine and glamourous, and that´s what we all wanna to be, right?

How it all started for me März 12, 2008

Well, since Sevenstar already introduced me, it’s about time to introduce myself. My second life started somewhere in april 2007. I saw SL at a business convention and was interested right away. My avatar Amon Mielziner saw daylight at May 7th. After strolling around this fascination  world I met Sevenstar Amat. Our meeting was magical.. We soon became close friends and partners sharing interest in building and developing SL products. It showed that our talents completed each other perfectly. After opening our first SL shop many others followed. And we developed a wide range of products, from furniture to clothing, art and food…. you name it. To me,  meeting Sevenstar in RL also wasn’t a disappointment at all… I am sure it added another dimension to our (R)(S) lives.

We love to create beautifull stuff and are still developing our skills and creativity. Definitely our momentary highlight is the birth of Lumandia, our personal Island in SL. The environment and athmosphere show our very own signature and I am very proud of all the work Sevenstar has put in to it, making it a place where I really feel at home.

The „Padrina & Padrino“ Empire (wich is ironical ;) ) März 12, 2008

„Padrina“, thats me, „Padrino“ is my partner Amon Mielziner. As I wrote in my first post, we met in SL a allmost  year ago. Meanwhile we met in real life too and that was not a dissappointmnt at all…:)

together we are „padrina & padrino styles and living“ an SL group. As we have a wide range of interests and activities, we hold several shops (all, except one, wich is located in New Berlin, on the WUNDERBAR ISLAND Sims) with a lot of diffrent items. We started with furniture and deco objects and ended up with scripted ans animated items, with clothes…in fact we did not end up yet. You never know what we will create next. SL is developing and we learn and develop too, the sky is the limit. Our first shop was „Padrina & Padrino Interiors“ and it´s located in Oneiros. Full of antics, „magic“ (texture changing) pictures, in its rich and deep colours, all together its a tribute to VivienneWestwood and her „Anglomania“ with its tartan textures and the english style.
